Navigating the New North: Data Insights About the Changing Canadian Consumer Patterns Online
Long-standing relationships and consumer behaviour between Canada and the United States experienced a significant shift in 2025 in part due to trade negotiations between the two nations. Canadians reacted to these changes by promoting a ‘buy-Canadian’ focus and choosing to travel less frequently to the United States.
Using data from Statistics Canada and other Canadian sources, we will discuss how these trends are reflected in the data and will highlight how socio-economic conditions have changed during this period of transformation between our neighbouring countries.
This webinar is part of the 2026 ICPSR Data Fair @ Love Data Week.
This event is free and open to the public. The webinar will be recorded, and the recording, along with the slides (when available), will be made available in the 2026 Love Data Week YouTube playlist.
