Current Issues in Copyright Online
In a research landscape where open access, open data, and open deposit in university or discipline-specific open repositories is the norm — not the exception — how often is new scholarship tagged as possible plagiarism and rejected outright simply because a scholar in a given area is producing research in that area?
In this workshop, we will explore:
- Unintentional and self plagiarism in research and scholarship
- Fair use deposits of dissertations
- Cross-border research and collaboration implications for copyright infringement and self plagiarism
Join Melissa Levine and Jeremy York of the Library’s Copyright Office to discuss current concerns with an emphasis on proactive solutions to advance research and science. Please come with questions for discussion with the group — we’ll reserve at least half of our time to try to work through challenges you may have.
Examples will tend to be drawn mostly from science disciplines but all are welcome.
