Understanding the Differences Between Statistics Provided by the Population Estimates Program and the American Community Survey Online
The U.S. Census Bureau produces several products that you can use to find information about the population of their community, including the Population Estimates and the American Community Survey (ACS).
In this presentation, we explore the differences between statistics provided by the Population Estimates Program (PEP) and the ACS. Specifically, we describe differences related to the reference date, survey controls, and levels of geography for which the data are available. The presentation will clarify the strengths and limitations of each product, helping data users choose the appropriate one to use for their needs.
