The Ins and Outs of Sharing Qualitative Data | ICPSR Webinar

The Ins and Outs of Sharing Qualitative Data | ICPSR Webinar Online

In this webinar, the presenters will provide guidance for investigators expecting to share data from qualitative and mixed methods research based on the data submissions to the National Addiction & HIV Data Archive Program (NAHDAP), a data archive at ICPSR. NAHDAP facilitates research on drug addiction and HIV infection by acquiring, enhancing, preserving, and sharing data produced by research grants, particularly those funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). The NAHDAP data archive team has worked with various investigators to share their data with the larger research community, including sensitive data, so it can be accessed safely and securely. The NAHDAP team has supported the sharing of qualitative and mixed method data which requires careful balancing of confidentiality with data utility and making use of various controlled access methods. The presenters will provide the audience with information about helpful practices and considerations when planning to archive qualitative data.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • What types of qualitative data NAHDAP/ICPSR accepts
  • How to protect confidentiality in qualitative data
  • How to prepare qualitative data files for archiving
  • How NAHDAP/ICPSR protects sensitive or restricted data
  • Why you should consider sharing your data with NAHDAP/ICPSR
  • How to share your data with NAHDAP/ICPSR

Who should attend?
This webinar is free and open to the public. It will be most useful for researchers who expect to archive data from qualitative or mixed method studies in the future.
